Workshop on Research Methodology

    Programme was inaugurated by Dr.D H Rajendra, Dr. Harish B R, Dr.Vinay and one of the participants.

WORLD RABIES DAY - REPORT 2016

On the occasion of World Rabies Day September 28 2016, Department of  Community Medicine had organized Rabies awareness programme in Vishwamanava High School, Mandya.
Team comprising Dr. Harish B R, Dr. Vinay M, Dr Subash Babu P, Dr.Manjunath M, Dr. Janavi, Dr. Hugara Siddalingappa , Mr. Kalappa along with Post graduate students went to Vishvamanava High School after making necessary preparations.

Welcome ceremony was addressed by the principal of the school and introduced all the delegates to the school children and welcomed all the delegates.

Dr. Janavi started the first session and gave a presentation on the following aspects of the Rabies.
1.     What is Rabies ?
1.     Animals from which one can get Rabies virus.
2.     Facts on Rabies.
3.     Preventive aspects of Rabies.
4.     Responsibilities of the pet owner.
5.     Treatment aspect of Animal bite.
6.     Take home points.


At the end of the presentation, an educational video was shown to the students regarding Rabies.
After showing the video, interactive session with the students was conducted where students were encouraged to ask questions regarding Rabies.

Second session began with the female students as the audience; it was done in similar lines with the first session.

MANML VACCINATION CAMP


Mandya District Co-operative Milk Producers Society’s Union Limited (MANMUL) Health check up and vaccination camp 30-08-2016 to 01-09-2016

MANMUL is situated in Gejjalagere, Mandya taluk, Mandya district. Health check up and Vaccination camp was organized at MANMUL for 3 days. Medical Superintendent, Mandya Institute of Medical College (MIMS), Mandya received requisition from MANMUL for health check up and vaccination for Typhoid to MANMUL employees. It was accepted and responsibility of conducting camp was handed over to Community Medicine department, MIMS, Mandya.
  Under the guidance of Dr.Subhas Babu, a team of the below mentioned members was made.
1.    Dr Subhas Babu (Associate Professor, Dept. Community Medicine)
2.    Physician: Dr Sunil, Dr Vishweshwaraih (Senior resident, Dept. Medicine)
3.    Dr Siddalingappa Hugar(Assisstant Professor, Dept. Community Medicine)
4.    Dr Bharath J (Post graduate student, Dept. Community Medicine)
5.    Dr Mythily M R (Post graduate student, Dept. Community Medicine)
6.    Dr Sneha (Intern, MIMS, Mandya)
7.    Dr Siddalingesh (Intern, MIMS, Mandya)
8.    Mamta (Staff nurse, MIMS, Mandya)




Adequate planning was done for the camp. The place was visited one day before to check for arrangements like separate male and female examination room, separate vaccination rooms.

The employees were made to go through the following counters
1.Registration counter: Here the basic details of the employees were taken. Registration number was given to each person, Weight checked and sent to  next counter.

2. BP checking counter: BP of individual checked here.


















3. General examination: For all patients general examination was done and referred to physician if further required.

4.Physician counter: Required patients were referred to physician for further treatment.

5. Vaccination counter: All the newly employed and old employees were vaccinated and those who received vaccine in 2015 were excluded.
Persons who received vaccination were made to stay for 20mins for observation.
Total no: 642
No of employees undergoing health check up & Vaccination: 250
No of employees undergoing health check up: 497
Subsequently certificates were issued to employees undergoing health check up and vaccination.
